Team
The only way to successfully campaign a top running race car is to have a
solid, cohesive and experienced team supporting and working on the car. This is especially the
case with a Nitro Funny Car.
Nobby Hills Racing has probably one of the best teams in Europe today, with an
unequalled blend of experience, history and youthful enthusiasm.
|
 |
Nobby Hills, Team Owner / Crew Chief:
Nobby has been involved in drag racing since the sport started in
Europe in the 1960's. Having owned and raced nitro burning Funny Cars
since they started in this country in 1973, there is no one more
experienced in this field.
Nobby is enthused about the new project and can't wait to get the car onto
its rightful place, the drag strip!

|
Owen Hayward, Driver /
Technical Advisor:
Owen started working on the old Houndog cars in the 1960's before
assuming the driving role in 1973, jumping straight into the hot seat of a
Nitro Funny Car. Having gained the nickname "The
Natural" for the way he mastered the skills of driving a fuel car,
Owen drove through the team's most successful and popular period before retiring in 1984.
Owen is scheduled to undertake the initial driving duties before
instructing and handing over the driving chores to his son, Simon.

 |
Simon Hayward,
Driver:
Another team member that comes from old drag racing
stock, Simons father is Owen Hayward.
Simon has contributed getting the car to its current state by helping to manufacture parts
in addition to helping at many of the shows.
His full time job will be
of good use too.....he works for a well
known Formula 1 team !
He is currently making preparations to obtain the
necessary licences. |
|
 |
Richard Hayward,
Crew:
Richard continues the family connection and works on
the Funny Car as much as his full time job allows.
Making sure his younger brother is safe and sound in
the cockpit will be part of his responsibilities when the car hits the
strip.

Chris Blows,
Webmaster & Promotions: I have known Nobby and Owen for
nearly 30 years, helped with the running of the teams Supporters Club in
the late 1970's early 1980's and worked as a crew member on the Challenger
and Corvette Funny Cars in the mid 1980's.
In 2001, I set up the
Walkin' The Dog
website which details the history of the team.
I will be
maintaining and updating NHRacing.com and working with the rest of the team to
help promote the car and its activities.
