Latest News If you
would like to be advised by email whenever this site is updated, please email 17th May 2010 The team spent a few useful hours at Shakespeare County Raceway this last weekend checking out that everything was OK with the car prior to the forthcoming Xtreme Wheels show. In the words of crew member Chris Eyre: Click here for some pictures. or Click here for a link to a video thanks to Alec Coe or here with thanks to "Cunning Plan"
10th May 2010 As we have so often said, we are exploring many options to raise the funds to enable us to race. With the help of Stuart Nicholls and Emagine Productions, we have entered a competition to produce an ad for Doritos. Follow this link to see it. Win the competition or not it was fun to do! http://kingofads.doritos.co.uk/video/1640204820
29th March 2010 Yes, we are still here. Yes we still want to race and yes, we are still short of funds. We are still looking for the necessary money to enable us to do what we want to do. You can be assured that nobody wants to see us back on the strip more than Nobby and the team. While it may have been quiet from us, we continue to appreciate the messages of support that you send us and the encouraging comments that appear on internet forums. As you may have already read, Nobby is currently rebuilding Houndog 1 and it is intended that the rebuilt car is shown alongside the Funny Car at Xtreme Wheels in June. For full details follow this link. http://www.xtremewheelsshow.com/
4th November 2008 As we mentioned below, Nobby and the team took the NH Racing Houndog Nitro Funny Car to Shakespear to do some testing before the drag racing year finally drew to a close. Click here to see what happened. Despite the progress we have made, the pleasure has unfortunately been tarnished by a personal vendetta against Nobby and the team. An individual, hiding behind a keyboard, has been launching a series of attacks against us on drag racing forums. His posts have now been deleted by the moderators or he has been put back in his place by those who will not put up with this type of abuse. If all the
"experts" that lurk out there could build and run a fuel car there would
be 32 car fields in the UK ! Thankfully these people are in a minority and the support we continue to receive more than makes up for the negativity and ill informed statements that have been made. The season
is now over and significant progress has been seen on numerous fronts.
A big thank you also goes to the people who have bought Nobby's autobiography and have sent donations to Simon's appeal to raise funds to license with Frank Hawley. See below for details how to buy the book and or send a donation to help fund Simon's appeal. Work will continue over the winter months on various fronts and we will keep you updated of any news via this website. In the meantime, on behalf of all associated with Nobby Hills Racing, thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
5th October 2008 Two bits of news as we approach the end of the season; Firstly we intend to be at Shakespeare County Raceway on October 25th/26th for the Halloween Bonfire Burn-Up Public Track Day. We are hoping to do some burnouts and test launches. Keep an eye on this site or http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/ for any last minute news. Secondly, as you will have read before, it is planned to send Simon to Frank Hawleys Drag Racing school in the States. This, unsurprisingly needs money. Simon has set up a Facebook group to launch an appeal for funding and also, there has been a Paypal account setup to receive any donations. We have already received some pledges from team supporters and people that have seen the car at shows, so please show your support and show us your money ! Its really simple, click on the link below and follow the instructions!

28th June 2008 We are
really excited to be able to tell you that a book is in the final stages
of printing that covers Nobby's life story and tales from his drag
racing history. It's entitled "Nobby's Quarter Mile", ............The life story of Nobby Hills and the history of drag racing in his own words. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but never a drag..... It has been nearly a year in the making and contains not only some never seen pictures from the by-gone days but also many anecdotal stories and interviews with the people Nobby has come into contact with. The introduction is written by Dave Lee Travis who many will remember was not only a well known Radio 1 DJ, but drove a variety of dragsters, including a Top Fuel car. He is also a lifelong friend of Nobby's. Other contributors include Owen Hayward who has written about his first run in the Duster, Mike Hutcherson has written about his times with the team as has Alan Bates. Paula Murphy has told about her first time at Santa Pod, Roy Phelps has talked about Nobby and their time together with his father. Produced in conjunction with team partners Dolphin Graphics, the hardback book (ISBN No. 978-0-9559623-0-1) is printed on high quality paper and runs to 288 pages. It costs £20.00 plus £6.00 P&P. We expect to have the books from the printer in mid July and are happy top take pre-orders now. Please email or contact Dolphin Graphics directly if you are interested in buying a copy. Dolphin
Graphics We will also have the book for sale at the shows we will be attending at North Weald on July 20th and Sandringham on July 30th.

4th June 2008 As we mentioned recently, the NHR Nitro Funny Car was taken to Shakespeare County Raceway to do some Nitro Fire ups. Whilst this was fun and was the first time we have done this in public, what we never expected to happen was for the car to actually run down the strip, albeit sans body and on tickover. Click here for the pictures and story.
29th May 2008 Following another test fire up recently, a short clip of it can be found on You Tube by clicking on the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n2yCr0_C9U Further to the appearance below, we are also intending to be at The Damn Yankees Summer Slam at North Weald on 20th July and Royal Sandringham Show on 30th July. We intend doing fire ups at both shows with the car consuming a few gallons of its staple diet; 90% nitro !
27th May 2008 Nobby has been invited to present some trophies at Garys Picnic, Shakespeare County Raceway over the weekend of May 31st / June 1st 2008. Not only will he be there to do some presenting, the NHR Funny Car will also be on show doing some Nitro start ups over the weekend......do come along and say hi if you can. http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/newsdetails.asp?news=135
23rd May 2008 Do you want to work on a Fuel Funny Car ? The car is finished, testing is underway but we need some crew members to help us complete the testing and get the car racing. Clearly experience with fuel cars would be useful, but of more importance is the ability to learn and be a loyal, dependable and hard working team player. You should be able to devote the necessary time, both at race meetings and between meetings, to work on the car. It is located in Biggleswade Bedfordshire, so being close or able to travel would be very important. If you are interested in joining the team (or know someone that is) and think you or they fulfil the requirements, please drop us an email with a contact telephone number and we'll get back to you.
21st February 2008 Nobby Hills Racing are pleased to announce that we have joined up with a company called Spreadshirt and we can now offer a whole range of t-shirts, polo shirts, jackets, bags and even umbrella's (not that you will need one when going to a race track in Europe.....), all of which will show you allegiance to Nobby Hills Racing. Please go to www.nhracing.spreadshirt.net or go to the Merchandise page using the link on the left for more details.
10th February 2008 Another year starts and a new season approaches. The winter has seen the team continue doing some testing, which is ongoing, and also getting the final touches done to the chassis. We are aware that some ill-informed comments have been made about the chassis not being legal, but to prove the people wrong, we are delighted to show a new present the team has received in the last few days; an SFI certificate for the chassis.
Next step is to go to Santa Pod on March 10th for the wheels and bellhousing etc to be certified. Thanks go to various people, not least Geoff Martin for issuing the chassis tag.....yet another small but significant step in getting the car where people want to see it, blasting down the 1/4 mile.
