Behind the scenes....
The making of the trailer
Nobby had been designing the new trailer during 2002/3
while building the Funny Car. As has often been said and written,
one of the special things about Nobby Hills Racing and the Houndog cars
and team of the past is the preparation and the presentation of the "whole
package".
There was no way the new car would be pulling into Santa Pod or where
ever on the back of any old trailer pulled along by a Transit van !
The first part of the construction, the building of
the chassis, took place in early 2004 just after the launch of the car.
Work continued during the year, albeit at a slow pace, and then
re-commenced in earnest after the Xtreme Wheels Show in February 2005.
1. With the
rolling chassis complete and painted, the heavy duty flooring
was installed during March and April 2005.
 |
2. Installing the flooring on a 38ft
trailer is not a 5 minute job, but by the end of April, we were ready
for the next stage of the build.
 |
| 3. The first side was cut
and placed in situ...Trust me these sides are heavy and without the
crane...forget it !
|
4. And then the next
side.....Looks easy but thankfully it wasn't windy and Nobby knows how
to "drive" a crane.
|
| 5. It was now
beginning to look like a trailer...
|
6. By the middle of May,
the basic shape of the trailer was virtually complete.
 |
| 7. The proper wheels where
on and some of the trim was being fitted.
|
8. By mid June the trim was
virtually finished, the roof fitted and the lights installed and wired
up...all 28 of them.

|
9. The car fitted perfectly in the
trailer...always an important consideration. The trailer was road worthy
at the end of June and used for the first time to get to the Corvette
show.

|
10. Americana Show, 10th
July,
Some of the graphics had been put on both the truck and trailer.
